The 2008 Jurors have been selected

Judges:

Alison Gass
Assistant Curator, Art and Painting, SF MOMA
Alison Gass is an Assistant Curator in the Painting and Sculpture Department at SFMOMA. There she has curated the exhibitions “New Work: Lucy McKenzie” and is currently curating a group exhibition on the theme of light in contemporary art. She is also the co-curator of this year’s SECA Art Award exhibition. Prior to joining SFMOMA, Alison was an Assistant Curator at The Jewish Museum in NY. She has a BA in Art History from Columbia University and is a Ph.D. candidate in Art History at NYU, where she is currently ABD.

Philip E. Linhares
Chief Curator of Art, Oakland Museum of California
Philip Linhares is Chief Curator of Art at the Oakland Museum of California, where he is currently working with the Art Department staff to plan a major building and gallery renovation, scheduled for completion in fall 2009. The project is a thematic reinstallation of the Gallery of California Art including innovative interpretive measures. He is simultaneously working on exhibition projects which include a Greater Los Angeles painting survey and a retrospective of the installations and sculpture by Los Angeles artist Michael C. McMillen. Linhares studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts and the Museum Management Institute, U.C. Berkeley on a fellowship from the Getty Trust. He has previously served as a Director at the San Francisco Art Institute, Mills College Art Gallery, and the CCAC Graduate Program.
